Beginner Stamping Techniques

For nearly two months, I have been doing a weekly Facebook Live for beginner stamping techniques called Marvelous Mondays. It has been really good for me to start from scratch again and work on #simplestamping. You can catch my FB lives at 7:00 PM PST on my Wild Violets Art FB page or later on my @wildvioletsart1 on YouTube. If you know of a beginner, send them my way as I started with just paper, scissors, ink, stamps and a cutter, then am moving up from there.

This was my week 6 training and my first time trying the faux tile technique (see - that right there has made it worth starting from scratch again).

I used the Season of Chic Bundle and loved the way it worked out. I am providing this bundle in my December Card Club, so check it out!

For this fun card, I started with a sheet of 3-1/2”x4-3/4” Basic White CS, then used my cutter to put in deep score marks every 1/2” (yes, a cutter works too…just press down and go over area twice).

I then used Evening Evergreen ink and the leaf body stamp to stamp (see video below). I layered this on a 3-3/4”x5” piece of Evening Evergreen CS. I used an A2 card in Soft Succulent, but used the leaf outline stamp first in Soft Succulent ink.

I glued the Evening Evergreen layer to the Soft Succulent card base, then popped up with tiled layer with Stampin Dimensionals. I used a 1”x4” scrap for the sentiment, inked in Evening Evergreen as well, then flagged one end with my scissors. I then used the 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds for embellishments.

For my stepped up and advanced customers, I showed them a finished card with a layer of clear embossing powder to get the true tile look, with a couple of die cut leaves using the lovely Textured Chic DSP.
