Why would I do this now?

As I ramp up for my new role as a demonstrator (along with being a project manager for a home builder/developer, wife, mother & avid gardener), I am realizing how much I loved & missed teaching others how to create beautiful cards & art, and in the process, make new friends.

I have lovely friends, I really do, but I love being creative, and want to be creative with my friends as well. While this COVID thing gave me more time to be creative, it sure isolated me from friends and family. I got to feeling sorry for myself, that there was no one else that did my arts & crafts very often (if at all), and it made me feel lonely and isolated (certainly a state of mind). However, as I started reaching out via social media of my plans to start a side business, I was amazed and so happy to see how many people are not only supportive of my efforts, but are willing to give it a try!

When I am teaching paper arts & crafts, there is something special about hearing a soon to be customer telling me how they “do not have a creative bone in their body”, and then a couple of cards later… hearing them exclaim how easy or fun it was to make cards or paper gift items.

It can be really easy and it sure is fun IF you have the right tools at hand. I absolutely love the way Stampin’ Up! makes it so easy to coordinate all their colors and merchandise to work together no mater what you are making. The cool thing is that if you do not have one particular item, you can substitute, mix and match however you want. I love to see all the creative ideas that others come up with, and get excited when my creative juices start flowing as well.

These are uncertain times for a lot of folk, and while some are holding back still for health reasons, I am gratified to hear from those that want to try Stampin’ Up! and make cards, gifts, or home art (the possibilities are endless). Can you tell I am getting excited… lol.

However, the hardest part (that did not exist 16 years ago), is doing this kind of business on social media and on websites! THE LEARNING CURVE IS BRUTAL!! Oh my… what I did not know, that I do not know… ha ha. Lots of folks want Zoom classes (what??), Facebook live, or video tutorials… yikes!! Luckily my day job is requiring me to learn how to use Zoom, and our Life Group was doing Zoom for our bible study meetings before we ended for the summer months. As you may have noted, I uploaded a few videos. I had to learn (thank goodness for YouTube) how to take videos with my phone, knit them together or edit out bloopers, then upload them to YouTube, then linking them to social media, my website, and… I could go on, but I can tell I am loosing you.

I will get up to speed… soon, and I have some great support with my SU! (Stampin’ Up!) demonstrator sisters. Exciting times ahead… one step at a time.
