Dainty Details Bundle - Watercoloring Techniques

Dainty Details Bundle

Oh… how I love flowers, and of course, the pretty little Dainty Details Bundle is just one of those bundles I would never pass up… then pair it with the gorgeous FREE Dainty Flowers 12”x12” DSP from January-April 2023 Sale-a-bration Catalog… and I am in heaven!!!

I am starting to prep for my February Stamp Class (Free with purchase) and so for my Marvelous Monday Facebook Live this week (I am still in my series of beginning stamping techniques, my 12th of the 52 series) I was showing the Fluid100 Watercolor paper and watercolor backgrounds and more watercoloring techniques. I am still surprised at how easy it is to achieve lovely backgrounds with only a moment of watercoloring, and then to pop up a few sprigs, layer and voila!! Lovely card!!

I also featured the oh so cute and new Boho Blue Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine that is a limited edition and exclusive only to those that sign-up with Stampin’ Up! during the 2023 Sale-a-bration (ends February 28). It fits all the Dainty Details Dies and then… to get that instant 20% discount… what is not to like! I have both crafters and business minded team members and would love to have you be part of our fun family!

Celebrate you

For this sweet card, I used half of the Fluid100 Watercolor paper by cutting the 5”x7” cardstock to two pieces of 3-1/2”x5” (in my video, I actually did not know what I was going to do for a card or how this card would end, so really used 3 pieces, but could have fit all the images on one piece and used the other for the background). For the sprig, I stamped it in Mossy Meadow ink, then came back with the smallest Water Painter to bleed the ink color into the leaves.

The floral sprig was stamped in Rich Razzleberry ink and again used the Water Painter to blead the ink for the flowers, then came in with Mossy Meadow ink for the leaves. it still has a little bleed from the linework ink, but you can tell the l leaves have a touch of green as well. I then die-cut out both with the Boho Blue Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. For the sentiment, I stamped it in Mossy Meadow, then fussy cut it out.

I used an A2 card base of Basic White Thick CS and glued a 4”x5-1/4” layer of the coordinating Dainty Flower DSP to the front. For the background layer, I used the other piece of Fluid100 Watercolor Paper, wet it in the middle with the largest of the Water Painters, then dropped in a little of the Mossy Meadow ink to the desired color, swishing the color around. Once it dried, I distressed the edges and glued it to the Dainty Flower DSP.

I popped up both sprigs and the sentiment, as I love the shadow popped up elements lend to my finished cards. I then added the Brushed Brass Butterflies for the final touch. Sooooo pretty!

More Celebrate you

For this pretty little card, I used the same cardstock and sizes as above, but this time used Stazon Jet Black ink for the sprig image, then came back again with the smallest Water Painter and painted the flowers with Rich Razzleberry ink and the leaves and stems with Mossy Meadow ink. The background was Rich Razzleberry ink with water (more on my video as to how I got the look). I stamped my sentiment in Rich Razzleberry as well. I popped up my sprig again and added the Brushed Brass Butterflies for the final touch!

Remember, watercoloring is supposed to be relaxing and loose, so listen to some pretty music, relax your shoulders, just practice and enjoy the results. We are all our worst critics, but recall who you are sending the paper hug to, and how much it means that you made something hand-made with love. I could get all silly about how things blead out of the lines, but feel it really just makes the results look softer.

Watercoloring is my favorite way to color, so I try to enjoy the journey of each creation. Happy coloring xoxo
