More Dainty Delights Watercoloring

This Dainty Delights Bundle is so fun to play with!!

I spent time die cutting out all of the individual foliage and flowers from Dainty Details Dies using Fluid100 Watercolor Paper to play, and was so pleased with the results, I wanted to teach others as well!

I am still working through my Beginner Stamping Techniques, and in my 13th of 52, my Marvelous Monday Facebook Live (7:00 PM PST) was showing how I achieved my backgrounds using multiple colors. Next week I’ll come back show how I watercolored the detailed flowers, using the same Dainty Delights Bundle.

I seem to find time to do this kind of watercoloring about once a year! Until I retire, it is just the way it is for now so I try to capture the moments and store them up! I hope you enjoy the cards as well.

Thank you for your kindness

When using Fluid100 Watercolor Paper, I typically use 1/2 of a 5”x7” piece. This one I cut down to 3-1/2”x4-3/4”. My video below shows how I achieved the background, and why I place the colors where I do.

For this card, I used Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Orchid Oasis for the background and also for the daisies. To make this type of foliage, I die cut them out, then watercolor them, that way I get the dark where I want it, and the light as well.

Next, I glued the watercolor paper to a 3-5/8”x4-7/8” layer of Old Olive CS, then wrapped it with the Old Olive Twill Ribbon, creating a little fold at each end of the ribbon with Glue Dots and Tear & Tape. I used glue and dimensionals to place my flowers. The sentiment was was stamped in Old Olive ink, the die cut using the Something Fancy Dies.

I then glued the layers down to a Shimmery White CS base. The watercolor paper and Shimmery White are both off-white, so pair them often. For my envelope, I used a blending brush to add the Old Olive & Daffodil Delight, then stamped an image with Old Olive ink. My final touch was the Brushed Brass Butterflies. So pretty!

In the above video, I showed how to create two backgrounds. The background for this one has a different look as I wanted it to replicate the flowers in the foreground as shown below. This card has what I consider Lupine or Lavender in looks, and what is supposed to be Queen Anne’s Lace, but I colored with Fresh Freesia ink instead. For this background, I used Soft Succulent, Fresh Freesia, and Orchid Oasis inks. This was all done with the largest of the Water Painters. Watch the video for more tips.

Be sure to tune in for my next Marvelous Monday - Beginner Stamping Techniques, Monday evenings at 7:00 PM PST. I will be showing how I achieved some of the details on the flowers in both cards. See you then. xoxo
